HydroCap® 4.0

Security below the surface

Manual conversion of depth measurements (soundings) from hydrographic survey maps is time consuming and prone to errors. In a joint R&D program over four years ProCaptura, The Norwegian Hydrographical Service and the Norwegian Regional Development Fund established an efficient and accurate process for the conversion of hydrographical fair sheets.

The map, the man and the machine. In ProCaptura's philosophy a true man / machine alliance is critical. Results from the automatic processes are presented to the operator in a way that makes error spotting obvious. All results must be anchored to specific features in the original raster, ensuring that the entire map is covered. HydroCap® enables conversion of curves and symbols ; however, the main focus is on the numbers. A highly accurate OCR capture s even hand written digits with a portentous quality rate. Embedded control functions eliminate man-made faults in subsequent conversions. Positioning and configurability

Geographical positions of numbers and symbols are automatically deduced from the raster image, giving an accurate and predictable point position for all objects. As parameters of created objects are configurable, customers may create their own library of parameter sets for different writing styles. Efficiency without compromising the quality

In ProCaptura, we believe that 100% accuracy is both achievable and affordable, even when the production is provided by high cost labour. Tests have shown that the time needed to digitize a nautical survey map may be reduced by 50% with the use of HydroCap® from ProCaptura. In addition, costly external quality checks are eliminated .
