Welcome to GeoRef
This product is made to extract sub images from a raster image and add world coordinates to each sub images. This is traditionally called clipping and georeferencing. Clipping areas are defined interactively and a set of transformation points are added to each area. The operator can choose between different transformations and transformation files and eventually transformed images will be produced. Also a transformation report is generated, containing error estimates of the calculated transformation. The georeferenced images can be further processed by ProCaptura products. What can you do with GeoRef
With GeoRef you can clip sub images from an digital raster image and georeference each sub image so that all images are in the same coordinate system. One practical use of this is to compose one large image of a set of scanned images.
To georeference an image means to establish the relationship between pixel coordinates on a planar map and real-world coordinates. The pixel coordinates corresponds to the matrix coordinates of a digital raster image. The georeferencing is done by placing a number of points on the image and add the corresponding world coordinates to each point. GeoRef offers a set of different transformation methods as Helmert, Affine, etc. that can be applied to calculate a set of transformation parameters. The transformation method uses the digitized points with world coordinates to calculate a set of transformation parameters. GeoRef will generate a transformation report verifying the quality of the transformation.
GeoRef can handle TIFF images (binary, colour, etc) that can come from a scanner. The operator can define one or more clip areas, e.g. georeference areas and add world points to each of these. For each georeference area, a georeferenced image, e.g. a TIFF file with associated transformation parameters, will be produced by the program. The resulting TIFF files follow international standards and can be used by ProCaptura's products or other products.
The transformation report is used to validate the transformation and tools are available to improve the calculated transformation.
